The Extracurricular and Community Development Committee of Solukhumbu Multiple Campus managed to conduct a powerful community outreach program in the form of Free Eye Checkup, Treatment, and Counselling Service. The title of this program was Free Eye Check-Up Service, on the date 2082-12-03 B.S., with the noble objective of acquiring the culture of eye care among members of the local population. The initiative marked a valuable step toward improving public health services in the Solukhumbu region, especially in rural and semi-urban areas where such services are less accessible.
The program was officially inaugurated Mr. Dilli Ram Bastola. His presence and encouraging words highlighted the importance of optic health and the need for more collaborative efforts in reaching out to the community. Mr. Dilli Ram Bastola, the Coordinator of the Extracurricular and Community Development Committee, was the leader and coordinator of the whole event, and he contributed to the program running smoothly and effectively.
The free eye checkup camp was held on the premises of Nele Bazar, Solukhumbu and hence easily available to the locals. Ontologist Subash Danuwar Rai, who is an esteemed professional in ontological care, was the main facilitator of the event, who gave his time and expertise to the cause willingly. A full spectrum of services, such as eye check-ups, basic treatments, and counseling sessions, was offered to the local participants under his guidance.
The program was designed to have four well structured sessions in the day. It started in the morning  at 7:00 AM, and ended in the afternoon at 5:00 PM, so that the participation was as much as possible and the maximum service delivery was achieved. The sessions were made to control the large attendance of the eye care attendees and to offer them  personalized eye care. Recommendations of ontological hygiene practices and preventive care, as well as usual problems, also played a crucial role in the sessions.
One hundred and one people benefited from the  program. The beneficiaries were residents of Nele Bazzar. This was demonstrated by the large attendance rate that indicated the necessity and the desire of the community to participate in such health-related outreach programs. Most of the participants showed their appreciation and wanted them to continue to get such programs in future.
This program would not have been successful without the collaborative efforts of the campus administration, the organizing committee, medical professionals, and the host institution. It also highlighted the greater vision behind Solukhumbu Multiple Campus to reach further into the community it serves as well as the educational and social responsibilities that it does not face academic boundaries.
This community based outreach program did not only deliver an immediate health impact but also sensitized people about the long-term significance of good ontological hygiene. It also enhanced the relationship between the campus and the surrounding population and provided the basis of how more frequent health-related outreach programs can be organized.
In conclusion, the camp was a landmark event in community service by Solukhumbu Multiple Campus. It showed the willingness of the institution towards the welfare of the community and the overall development. The organizing committee already started to have a discussion on whether to extend the future outreach programs to other fields of health and well-being. These efforts have continued to build trust, awareness, and empowerment of the members of the community, and therefore, education is a potent weapon of social change as well.
